Gary Hawkins was born in Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire, England, and grew up in the nearby village of Holt. Gary received a BSc in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from the University of Bath, and a Ph.D. in Satellite Communications from the University of Bristol. Gary has worked in the telecommunications industry for the majority of his career, initially in the UK and then in the USA until 2016. In addition to Changing China, Changing Life, he has also published numerous articles on technical subjects, and the book A Life Redesigned.
