Our first trip to South Carlsbad State Beach - we were all excited, particularly Xaria. Getting an oceanside spot at any of the local beach campgrounds requires booking as soon as the booking window opens six months before on ReserveAmerica. Miss the opening and your trip will be delayed another month!
The park has 220 campsites, approximately half of which are oceanside; offering a fantastic vista. Access to the beach is mainly via stairs down the cliffs, but there is one ramp at the south end of the facility. The campground has a well-stocked camp store that offers firewood, ice, beer & wine, snacks, ice cream, a few basic food items, and souvenirs. During the summer months, the campground is full every weekend and most weekdays. What few sites are left are eagerly snapped up by walk-ins.
