We arrived at San Clemente State Beach campground in early May after spending four days in the Santa Barbara area split between the Bacara Resort & Spa and the Cheshire Cat Inn (an excellent B&B). It was Sophia's birthday, and we were away for the week.
I Bet They Don't See Many Teardrops at the Bacara Resort & Spa
San Clemente State Beach campground sits high on the bluff, back some distance from the ocean. From the majority of the camping spots, including ours, you cannot see the sea, but you can smell the salt in the air. The campground is not that pretty, functional would be the more appropriate description.

We were in one of the middle spots, and our site backed out onto a large open area where children gathered to play. Xaria soon made new friends.

It's a longish downhill walk from the campground to the beach; made all the harder by having to cross the coastal railway tracks as the pedestrian tunnel had flooded. The beach was nice enough though, and Xaria was soon making the most of it.
We left for home on Sunday; while it wasn't a long trip back home Xaria made the most of it! She loves sleeping in the car.
